33 or 99 Beads? Choosing the Right Tasbih Length
Share
The two classic forms of the misbaha serve the same practice in different ways.
The 33
Compact enough for a pocket, the 33-bead misbaha is the everyday companion — three passes complete the traditional count. Its shorter strand sits naturally in one hand, which is why most daily-carry pieces, and most of our wood designs, take this form.
The 99
The full tasbih carries one bead for each of the ninety-nine names. Dividers at each third mark the count without looking. A 99 has presence — draped over the hand at the majlis or kept at home — and smaller bead diameters (6–8 mm) keep it comfortable despite its length.
Diameter matters as much as count
A 10 mm bead gives a deliberate, weighty draw; 6 mm feels lighter and quicker. In the Custom Atelier you can pair either diameter with either count.
